Apparently, pink flamingoes are native to Austin. Funny, I never knew. This flock is the signage for a plant nursery off of Bee Caves Rd. There's at least 500 of em. Not too long ago, the Westlake neighbors weren't too found of all the birds, so they forced the nursery to remove them. The rest of the city pitched a fit loud enough to have them reinstated. I s'pose they add to the "Keep Austin Weird" movement. Love it.

House Progress!
These pics of the house were taken on Monday- my first site visit since December. The top pic shows the main house- they're finishing up the stucco work. Ultimately the stucco will get painted a light green (celery). The bottom pic shows the house as you enter the hood- its the 3rd one from the right. Eveybody's yards look a little scrappy, hopefully that'll change over time. But whatever, the houses are all so cool, who cares about the yard!

Planet Houston
Hi Y'all. I've been in Houston for 2 days, and I'm already sick of driving. This pic shows the protesters who post signs on one of the overpasses on 59 as you get close to downtown. I've never seen anything like it. The traffic shown here seems pretty typical. OK, this is my only gripe.....beeecause....I'm so happy to be back in Texas! The sun is out constantly and there is blue sky everywhere. Not to mention tons of good food and good friends and family. Can't get enough of that.
Meanwhile, Rob is still in Boston which totally sucks. He's stuck indoors b/c it's still cold up there. We have a couple of bites on the loft so maybe our life as desperate sellers will be over soon. Keep your fingers crossed!
And now, since I missed LOST last night, I'm off to watch it now. I've heard it's a good one.
TTFN (ta ta for now).
PS - being temporarily unemployed rocks. You should all try it if you ever have the chance.

We're on Our Way! (well, at least 1 of us is)
Guess what everybody!?!?! I'm comin home! I just finished booking a 1-way flight to Houston for March 19th! I'm stopping through Houston to pick up my mom's car (since there will be no walkin or taking the T in Texas!), and then heading to Austin! I'll be staying w/ my sister, her boyfriend and their child Ruby (a Rodesian Ridgeback puppy) for a few weeks. And, I'm hoping to start a contract position w/ a design firm there by the end of the month.
This isn't the way I exactly planned to be coming back- certainly didn't plan on coming w/out Rob, but he's going to stay in Boston for a month tops, while we wait for the dang loft to sell. There's alot more to the story, but the moral is THE STEPNOSKI'S ARE FINALLY COMIN TO TEXAS. And it's about time (no offense, Boston).
See y'all soon!

Is anyone reading this?
Since there's nothin new on the house except for a potential leaky roof, I thought I'd talk about something else. Bikes. Rob has a major mountain bike fetish, and some of that has rubbed off on me. This is a shot of us at the base of a mountain in New Jersey (yes, Jersey has mountains). We were there last October, and we ended the trip w/ a visit to the local spa. And that right there was the best part of the trip...oh yah, and the heated pool!
It seems that we're not the only bikers at Agave....anyone up for a ride this summer?
