Short People....Tall House?

How cool is this picture? Either my mom and Tim are midgets, or we have really high ceilings. The top pic is taken from the living room looking back at the kitchen island. We have a dropped ceiling over the kitchen, which will also house a lighting cove and Rob's projector. We also have 8' high sliding glass doors that go out to the central courtyard.

The second picture is of course, the front of the house taken from the street. Now
I know how Rob's truck will look in the driveway. Btw- I love our paint colors- the only one missing is the Pale Celery which is going on the main body of the house. I also love all the BLUE SKY in the background. I can't get enough of that- especially after staring at gray snowy skies for the last several days. GOOD BYE GRAY SKIES....HELLO BLUE.

Meet George!

I don't have any progress pics of the house, so George will be this evening's entertainment. Yes, we are stupid for our cat. Meet George, our cute British Blue kitty. There was a bit of an identity crisis when Rob picked her up from the pound 12 years ago, so HE is really a SHE. So, we call her Georgie, or Freakshow, depending on the mood she's in.

My mom and her husband Tim were in Austin this past weekend (in town from Planet Houston), so they met w/ Julie and the builder to review the electrical. I'll post their pics later this week. I guess this marks the point where Agave starts surprising us- where we thought we had regular swing doors, we now have solid core pocket doors. Way cooler than swing. Those will be in our master bath, and the pantry that is right off the kitchen. We will also have a little Juliet balcony on the second floor that will look down over our stairs. Also pretty cool.

No More FSBO

Since posts with pics are more interesting than posts without, here's the latest pic that we have of the Austin house (compliments of course, of our future neighbor, Alana) It's kinda cloudy, but you can see the cool red color that makes up the underside of the roof. Oh, you can also see the stained cedar planks in the back balconies.

And here's the maid idea for today: How many ways can you say DE-FLA-TED? Not enough to convey how we're feelin right now. After 8 months of trying to sell our loft ourselves, we've given up. Because we're running out of time....the Austin house is getting built faster than I can type. (ps- completion date = sometime in May). So, now we've entered Realtor Land. We've hired the realtor who we bought the loft from to now sell it. It was about a year ago that we spoke to her in the first place about selling. That was when we were certain we could sell it ourselves. Soooo...moving on. No more thinking about what we shoulda done...now its up to the realtor to sell it. On the bright side....we don't have to host any more open houses! That sucked. The one last thing I'll say about FSBO (FOR SALE BY OWNER)- only attempt it if you have lots of time on your side, and lots of patience- for talking to all the idiots that come through your house, and for keeping your place clean ALL THE TIME. That was one of the most annoying parts of it all. But, we do deserve some credit- with all the advertising we did, and open houses, and hosting open studios we managed to bring in 100's of people into our space.

They just weren't swanky loft buyers. Their loss. OK. No more cryin.

The House To Be

Since everyone at Agave can watch the daily progress on our house, we thought it would be cool to show everybody the end goal. Rob build these images in Sketchup, based on the floor plans the builder gave us. He even found the exact paint colors and applied them to the model. Our colors are Majestic Ridge (red), Raw Earth (brown), and Chopped Celery (pale green).
